Faschings

Hey there! I haven't been blogging for the past 2 weeks. Pardon me for my busy schedule! Well, it was the Fasching Week for the Germans as known as the Carnival Week. We were lucky to witness this great event because every year, there's only 1 period whereby they celebrate this Christian event. This event goes around the whole Europe, different countries having different periods of Carnivals. I attended a few of the Faschings.

Last weekend, a group of internationals and the 4 of us went to Cologne and Dusseldorf for a night. We experienced 2 Faschings and I think it was a good experience for me. If you were to ask if I would attend such an event again, I would say no. It's not because it's boring, it's just that the event is more appealing to kids than to adults. During the Faschings, people get to wear all kinds of costumes, from colourful costumes to characters costumes. You can see it when I post the photos up on the web. Myphotoalbum account is expiring soon. Will try to fix it soon. At Cologne that we went on the Second day, Zhi Yin and I bought quite a lot of souvenirs. Their souvenirs are really not cheap! If you compare it to China, you can buy a dozen of them! And, I spent quite a sum of money on them. I have yet to buy any souvenirs so I shall not safe on them. One of them that I bought has a special meaning to me and Dear. It is a musical merry-go-round that has a music from the Korean Drama 天国的阶梯. It is very meaningful for us. Thus, I bought it. At first, I din know that was the song in the drama but I like the music when I first heard it. It somehow stirs up my feeling. I went back the seond time to buy it after much consideration because the price was steep. I'm glad that I bought it. It took us 6 hours to travel all the way to Cologne. I don't want to regret not buying it. :)

Talking about Faschings, I attended 3 which 2 of them were Fasching Parades, 1 is at Cologne while another is at Gundelsheim, a class outing. They have people walking down the roads, some with cars and vans, regardless what age they are. They threw sweets to the public and everyone tried to catch them with plastic bags and umbrellas. To me, catching of sweets is just for kids. I just tried to catch a few that lands near me, just to fit in to the atmosphere.

This week has been a better study week compared to the previous 2 weeks. Last week was terrible with IT modules! Though the prof is kind and helpful, but his lesson was soooooo boring! Even those hardworking Germans couldn't stand his lessons. Sometimes, I felt pity for him because nobody was listening. I tried to listen and follow during lab lessons. He is so old and it feels so bad to ignore him. ): Luckily, this week we had a professor from Western Washington University to teach us Organisation. I must admit I learnt a lot in her class and time passed faster each day. I wonder how is the next Professor for International Law..

These 2 weeks have not been really great in terms of my mood. I don't know why but I just don't feel right. And, ytd morning, I scalded my hand when I was taking out the baked garlic bread for Zhi Yin's breakfast. Hopefully it doesn't stays a scar there. It's so like a birthmark now! Hmm.. Now, we have to rush our International Finance project which we have not touched it for the past few weeks. Everyone is complaining the difficulty of the Coursework and I have no clue about European Exchange! I shall start my research tmr, hopefully.

I have been trying to cook Chinese food at home and it's always not to my taste. There's always sth missing inside. I miss Singapore delicacies! I must eat it once I reach Singapore! I've been missing the great taste of the Hokkein Mee, Popiah, Rojak, Stingray... I just don't crave for pastas! When everywhere sells pastas and pizzas, I feel sick of having those. However, Turkish Doner is delicious! I'll miss it when I go back to Singapore.

56 Days left and I'll be back in Singapore. I miss Dear, my Family and friends! Contradictly, I'll miss Germany as well.
